Marble Mountains.

I stand

Not in the footprints

But the shadows

Of giants.

Moving the marble mountains

Inside my mind

One pretty line

At a time

I have learnt to rip apart

My heart

Like cotton wool

And plug it into the ears

Of those with stales mouth

And eyes dull.

Sometimes mother

Sometimes mountain

Often swimmer

And always fountain

And its rather

Magnificent

How insignificant

This world may make you feel.

I see we slowly

Slip slide back

Stumbling steady

Over crater and crack

No pause for thought

Only poised to attack

And I wonder

When we forgot

We all fed

From the same breast

Mother earth

Is just trying her best

Beast and beetle

Not blessed by blue blood

But in harmony live

The harmonious lives

That I wish we all would.

But I am so blessed

Not to be sleeping on streets

So blessed not to fall underneath

Like the food bank nurses

With their food bank feet

And their tiny little food bank mouths to feed

When did humanity

Lose to austerity

When did a golden crown

Matter more

Than a little boy

On a hospital floor

And as refugees crossing seas

Start to wash up on shores

It seems to be

That some souls

Are just worth more

Than others

But I will stand with the lovers.

I stand with the mothers

I stand with the fathers

And I stand by my brothers.

May we make

Tomorrow a brighter day

May we see all children play

May we live in peace

In joy

And belief

That the future still holds the hope

That we can learn to love

And grow.

May we hold hands

Across the globe

For we are all children of the stars

This life is for all

And all is ours.
